The lands of Eledil and Aranel share a common bond: religion, a faith known as Eram. They believe in the same gods and many of the same myths. The only tale those of Eledil do not believe is the legend that states that those burdened with magic must be cursed, demonic or possessed.
Eram is actually the universal religion of the entire continent on which Eledil and Aranel can be found, though different sects are scattered throughout. The names of the deities differ from region to region, along with the myths and traditions.
Strangers to the lands are immediately immersed in Eramic society, and most become Erami before long. A few foreigners in Aranel and other kingdoms have retained their former faiths, though they are often shunned and forced to pay higher prices. So far, no non-Erami have come to Eledil; Mistress Sariane was brought up worshipping the same gods, and is now a devout follower of her clan's matron goddess.
Like most religions, Eram focuses around a group of gods. The main deities are Lekitah, the Goddess of Music, and Kethdir, the God of Time. Their children make up the rest of the circle, and are too many to count, but the clans mainly worship Solynn, the Goddess of the Elements; Phara, the Goddess of Wisdom and Learning; Ren, the God of War and the Hunt; and Ende, the God of Death.
All four clans worship Lekitah and Kethdir, but each has chosen its own patron or matron. The shamans who follow Solynn are of Starglow Wave, while the scholars of Phara reside in Clearstone Spirit. Ren's knights are all members of Sunrose Fire, and the priests and priestesses of Ende also go by the name of Moonbeam Shadow.
The Moonbeam Shadow clan celebrates the full moon by fasting from sunset to sunrise. They stay awake the entire night without speaking or moving, deep in meditation. This shows their endurance and stamina.
